Token-gated chat for Solana communities. Hold the token, join the chat.

HowlSpace gives every Solana token its own community space — called a den. Your wallet is your identity. If you hold a token, you automatically have access to its den. No invites, no verification, no bots.

Connect Your Wallet

HowlSpace supports any Solana wallet:

• Phantom — most popular, recommended
• Solflare
• Backpack
• Brave Wallet
• Trust Wallet
• Any wallet supporting the Wallet Standard protocol

To connect:

1. Go to howlspace.live
2. Click Connect Wallet
3. Select your wallet from the list
4. Sign the authentication message (this proves you own the wallet — no transaction, no fees)
5. You're in. Your wallet address is your account.

Browse & Join Dens

After connecting, click Browse in the sidebar to see all available dens. You can:

• Search by token name or ticker
• Sort by popularity, activity, subscribers, or newest
• Filter by tags

Rooms you have access to (because you hold the token) show a green indicator. Click any room to join.

What's a Den?

A den is the community space for a Solana token. It contains one or more rooms — channels where holders chat.

Think of it like this:

• Den = the token's community (e.g., the $BONK den)
• Room = a channel within that community (e.g., General, VIP, Announcements)

Every den is created by a token creator or community member who registers the token on HowlSpace. The person who registers it becomes the den owner with full admin controls.

Room Tiers

Rooms can require a minimum token balance to access. Default tiers when a den is created:

Room Types

Spectator Mode

Rooms with spectator mode enabled let anyone view the conversation — even if they don't hold the token. Spectators can read but not write.

This is useful for:

• Letting potential buyers see how active a community is before purchasing
• Public transparency for project announcements
• Scouting communities you're interested in

Den owners control spectator mode per room in Room Settings.

Chat & Messages

Standard chat features:

• Text messages with markdown formatting (bold, italic, links)
• Images — paste or drag-and-drop
• GIFs — built-in Tenor GIF picker
• Link previews — automatic Open Graph previews for shared URLs
• @mentions — tag users with @displayname, works for offline users too
• Message editing and deletion

Threads & Replies

Click any message to open a thread. Threads keep side conversations organized without cluttering the main room. Thread replies show a small preview in the main chat so others know a conversation is happening.

Reactions

Hover over any message (or long-press on mobile) to add emoji reactions. Quick reactions — a set of 6 commonly used emojis — appear on hover for fast access. The full emoji picker is available for everything else.

Rain (Token Drops)

Rain lets you distribute tokens to everyone in a chat room at once. Type:

/rain <amount>

This splits the total <amount> equally among all online users in the room (excluding yourself). The tokens sent are the den's native token by default.

You can also rain other tokens:

/rain <amount> SOL
/rain <amount> USDC
/rain <amount> USDT

How it works:

1. You type the rain command
2. A confirmation modal shows recipients and amounts
3. Your wallet builds and signs the Solana transaction(s)
4. After confirmation on-chain, the rain is broadcast to the room

There's a 5-minute cooldown per room between rains. Different rooms can be rained independently.

Tips

Send a direct tip to any user with:

/tip @username <amount>

Tips send the den's native token directly to that user's wallet. Like rain, your wallet signs the transaction client-side.

Direct Messages

Click any username to open their profile, then click Message to start a DM. Direct messages are private conversations between two users, independent of any den.

DMs support the same features as room chat: images, GIFs, reactions, threads, and link previews.

Feed & Subscriptions

The Feed shows shared messages from rooms you're subscribed to.

To subscribe to a room, click the paw icon on any room. When someone shares a message to the feed from that room (and the room allows it), it appears in your feed.

The feed is your personalized stream of highlights across all the communities you care about.

Polls

Create polls in any room to get community input. Polls support multiple options and show real-time vote counts. Only room members who meet the token threshold can vote.

Games

Play mini-games right inside any chat room. All games are provably fair — every result is generated from a server seed + client seed using HMAC-SHA256, so outcomes can be independently verified.

Den owners can enable or disable specific games per room in Room Settings.

Radio

HowlSpace has a built-in music player. Listen to tunes while chatting — powered by Jamendo's royalty-free music library.

Register Your Token

To create a den for your token:

1. Connect your wallet (must hold the token)
2. Click Register Token in the sidebar
3. Select your token from your wallet, or paste the mint address
4. Configure tiers (or use defaults: General / VIP / Whale)
5. Pay the registration fee ($2 in SOL, USDC, or USDT)
6. Your den is live immediately

The wallet that registers the token becomes the den owner with full admin controls over all rooms.

Moderation Tools

Den owners and moderators can:

Room Settings

Click the gear icon on any room you own or moderate to access settings:

• Room name and description
• Topic — displayed at the top of the room
• Minimum token balance — adjust the access threshold
• Spectator mode — allow non-holders to view
• Discoverable — show in Browse listings
• Share to feed — allow messages to be shared to subscribers' feeds
• Slowmode — rate limit messages
• Tags — help users find your room in Browse

Create New Rooms

Den owners and moderators can create additional rooms beyond the defaults. When creating a room, choose from four types:

• Token-gated — standard, requires minimum token balance
• Open — anyone can join, no token requirement
• Announcement — read-only for members, only mods can post
• Mod-private — hidden from regular members

Transfer Ownership

Den owners can transfer ownership to another wallet. This transfers control of all rooms under the token and updates the claimedBy field. Existing moderators are preserved through the transfer.

To transfer: go to any room's settings in your den and use the Transfer Ownership option.

FAQ

Is HowlSpace free to use?

Yes, for token holders. Just connect your wallet and join any den you have tokens for. There's a small registration fee ($2) only for creating new dens.

What happens if I sell my tokens?

Your access to gated rooms is re-verified periodically (every ~15 minutes). After selling, you'll lose access to rooms that require a minimum balance. Open rooms and rooms you have other access to (e.g., as a moderator) are unaffected.

Are my messages stored?

Messages are stored on HowlSpace servers and automatically purged after 30 days unless pinned. Pinned messages are kept permanently. Inactive dens (no activity for 30 days in any room) are cleaned up entirely.

Can bots or scrapers access HowlSpace?

No. All access requires wallet authentication with a cryptographic signature. There is no public API for reading messages. Every user in a room has proven wallet ownership.

What wallets are supported?

Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, Brave Wallet, Trust Wallet, and any wallet implementing the Solana Wallet Standard protocol.

Can I use HowlSpace on mobile?

Yes. HowlSpace is a responsive web app that works in mobile browsers. Use your mobile wallet's built-in browser for the best experience (e.g., Phantom's browser).

How does rain work technically?

Rain transactions are built and signed entirely in your browser using your wallet. HowlSpace never has access to your private keys. The server verifies the transaction on-chain before broadcasting the rain event to the room.
